What is What in the World?
What in the World is a newsletter that strives to glean insights from the media on the trends defining who we are, drafting our history and determining our future. It’s written by veteran financial journalist Wayne Arnold, who publishes it whenever there’s enough going on to warrant intruding on subscribers’ email inboxes. Subscribers can also read it on the web or in Substack’s app.
Because what’s driving the world tends to evolve over time, What in the World’s focus changes periodically to reflect that: public health, China, climate change and food security, Europe’s economies, regulation of the internet, and of course war and geopolitics—you get the idea. The aim is to keep readers abreast of these bigger, ongoing issues in an entertaining way that develops as the issues unfold—and avoids the topical whiplash you get on conventional news sites.
